Monthly Overview:

Draft that to-do list, Ram. Until September 23, the Sun is moving through Virgo, your sixth house of health, efficiency and organization, putting you in the mood to tackle all the small but essential details of your life. Anything that boosts your day-to-day functioning should get top priority, including cleaning through old files, stocking up on vitamins and hitting the office supply store for the essentials. On August 11, lucky Jupiter entered Virgo, this same practical domain, and September marks Jupiter’s first full month in this streamlining-centric zone of your chart. Time to check off those tasks! The sixth house also rules wellness, so your fall fitness plans should get off without a hitch if you start early.

September is a busy month, with two game-changing eclipses (a Virgo solar eclipse and an Aries lunar eclipse), clever Mercury turning retrograde (backward), and alluring Venus and powerful Pluto correcting course, ending their (sometimes) tough retrograde cycles. Saturn will also change signs and settle into Sagittarius for the next two years. Most of this happens in the second half of September, so fasten your seatbelt—and enjoy those last carefree days of summer while you can!

On September 13, a partial solar eclipse in Virgo, the wellness-minded zone of your chart, kicks off eclipse season. This eclipse continues the series occurring on the Pisces/Virgo axis, which began on March 20 with a Pisces total solar eclipse, and now occurs for the first time in Virgo. This series of eclipses will run through 2017 and ultimately help you reshuffle the decks when it comes to your health, creativity and daily work style.

This two-year series will touch down in the health and holistic zones of your chart—how can you ground your spirituality on a practical level? Are the physical symptoms of your body also trying to impart divine wisdom? On the 13th, get set for a bold new beginning, as the solar (new moon) eclipses incite clear cut action and fresh starts. You might dive into a holistic approach to fitness, organization, spirituality, work and service. The mind-body-soul connection could figure into your life in a major way over the next couple years, transforming your entire being.

A few days after the eclipse, you turn reflective, as clever Mercury will go retrograde (backward) in Libra, your seventh house of one-on-one relationships, from September 17-October 9. During this three-week period, you could have miscommunications with a romantic or business partner in particular. Focus on renegotiating the terms of your current union, instead of making demands or just flying solo. Contracts-in-development could come to a halt or get sidelined. Don’t stress about timing—the cosmic pause is helping you figure out a more appropriate way of collaborating with others; this can only help you in the long run.

Ch-ch-change is all around you. Also on September 17, serious Saturn reenters Sagittarius, your ninth house of travel and adventure. Saturn moved into Sagittarius for the first time since 1988 on December 23, 2014, bringing a need for rules, discipline and structure around all your most visionary plans. Whatever gives you a sense of freedom—whether it’s globetrotting, entrepreneurial ventures, returning to school or other types of risks—is up for review. You may feel the itch to bust out of your current routine, but Saturn is asking that you do that in a thoughtful, measured and practical way.

On June 14, Saturn backed out of Sagittarius for one last trek through Scorpio, your internal and intimate eighth house. That heavy (and even dark) period comes to a close on September 17, and not a moment too soon. If you felt depressed or overwhelmed by your emotions this summer, Saturn was likely the culprit. You were tasked with processing some heavy stuff, perhaps around a key relationship or financial matter. Now that you've had one last chance to get that sorted, you can bid Saturn adieu—it won't return to Scorpio again until 2041!

While Saturn dipped into Sagittarius during the first half of 2015, you probably got a taste of what it means to place proper boundaries around your personal growth. Now, with the zodiac’s taskmaster settling in to free-wheeling Sag until December 19, 2017, get ready to hunker down for the long haul, finding strategies and long-term plans for all your horizon-broadening endeavors. While that may not sound exactly, er, spontaneous, this is a time of responsibility to your higher self and your most spiritually satisfying mission. Put some elbow grease into listening to your soul’s calling. What IS your purpose here on earth? You may take up a meditation practice to still your mind and find out. Or maybe you already know, in which case, you will need to get serious about listening to your gut and plotting your next move, whether it’s laying the foundation for a start-up, a total career change, or embarking on a life-changing ‘round the world trip!

During this transit, if you feel hemmed in, rest assured: that’s all part of the larger plan. Bumping up against obstacles will only strengthen your resolve to institute healthy, sustainable practices for your ultimate freedom. The ninth house rules inspiration, wisdom, publishing and teaching, so you may take up the motivational speaking mantle or find innovative platforms to spread a powerful message.

Balance returns on September 23 when the Sun enters Libra, your seventh house of harmony and cooperation. All your interpersonal affairs and close relationships come to the fore. A caveat: With communicator Mercury retrograde here you may still encounter mishaps or misunderstandings in your partnerships, so use the utmost care when dealing with others until October 9. Also, the 23rd marks the autumnal equinox, boosting your motivation to turn the page—hello, fresh start in all unions!

The month finishes with a bang—a total lunar eclipse in Aries, your first house of self and identity. This eclipse closes out a three-part series of annual Aries lunar eclipses (the others fell in October 2013 and October 2014). Eclipses are change-makers, and lunar eclipses fall at full moons, bringing major turning points or whisking us into a whole new reality. Over the last two years, the eclipses on the Aries/Libra axis taught you to feel stronger in your own independent skin, while also balancing solo pursuits with the needs of key relationships. Autonomy is oxygen to you, Ram, and these Aries eclipses have pushed you to assert your most personal agendas—even in ways that felt like an uncomfortable stretch. The first house represents the face we show the world, so getting clear on your own identity was a prerequisite to forming healthy relationships—and to success.

At this last eclipse, anything you are still holding on to—such as egocentric behavior or old fears about asserting yourself—will likely be shaken free. You may find yourself being less reactive in heated conversations. (Hello, Zen Master in training.) Or perhaps you’ll start owning your power and embracing the spotlight. It's coming…like it or not! You may want to commemorate the occasion of this final eclipse by getting a makeover—adopting a new, perhaps edgier “look” could really boost your confidence.
