Health & Happiness:

You are what you eat, Aries. That old adage might feel especially relevant as the Sun traipses through Virgo, your sixth house of health, until September 23. Focus on what you put into your body, such as leafy greens and organic fruit. If you have a rigorous exercise routine, it will be harder to, say, veg out every night with Netflix and nachos. Firing up your fall fitness plans, enthusiastic Jupiter is also in Virgo from August 11, 2015 until September 2016. This gives you a year to try some adventurous new wellness plans. On September 13, a dramatic solar eclipse in Virgo shakes up your entire approach to how you care for your mind, body and spirit. You could get some game-changing news that prompts you to switch up your lifestyle and lower your stress levels. You can’t keep living on ten cups of coffee or constant adrenaline, Aries. This eclipse demands that you put your wellbeing first.

Later in the month, energetic Mars enters Virgo, this same purifying zone, from September 24-November 12. This cosmic turn really inspires you to tackle certain fitness goals. Maybe you want to train for a half marathon, or work toward lowering your cholesterol with a natural yet aggressive approach. Whatever you set your sights on, you can achieve. Watch out, though, as you could be accident-prone in your Chariots of Fire quest for athletic greatness! Don’t overdo it and let your Weekend Warrior get the best of you. Forgetting to stretch or soak after an intense workout could result in a muscle tear or other injury. You could feel a little manic, since your mind is racing with Mars in this overly critical house. To keep yourself grounded and peaceful, listen to soothing and life-affirming mantras.

Beware the "sizzle then fizzle" effect during the last week of September, when Mars forms a challenging square with restrictive Saturn in Sagittarius. Sure, a blood-pumping run helps you ward off depression—but the first challenge is just lacing up those sneakers. The whole prospect of getting in shape could seem daunting. To combat fatigue and stagnation, set up a firm structure—are you caught between wanting to control and restrict your habits and, on the other hand, overindulging? Chances are, you’ll do both. (Yes, I would like a second helping of French fries, please…I need the strength for Crossfit!) But, either way, you could end up paying for it. Moderation is definitely the key under these cosmic conditions. Break things down into a manageable plan instead of going on some Aries-style crash course (a 30-day juice fast!) that isn't even remotely sustainable. Aim for a long-term lifestyle change instead of challenging yourself beyond what's humanly possible (…or enjoyable). One of our favorite books, Small Moves, Big Change, talks about the power of "microresolutions" to help you achieve your goals in a sustainable, permanent way.
