Monthly Overview:

Give yourself a rest, Libra! The Sun is in Virgo and your sleepy twelfth house until September 23, your annual time to chill in preparation for your birthday season. It’s time to tie up loose ends, clear the decks and prepare for a fresh start when the Sun enters Libra on the 23rd. Until then, take it easy and focus on finishing tasks rather than beginning any new ventures. Since the twelfth house rules the subconscious, your imagination is especially activated, so this can be a richly creative and spiritual time.

You might as well get used to this flowing pace, Libra, because expansive Jupiter will spend the next 12 months in Virgo. You’ve probably felt the tempo shift ever since Jupiter entered Virgo on August 11—its first time in this zone of your chart since 2004. The next year is like one long retreat, an amazing time for Libras to develop artistic and healing powers, and to escape the “matrix” of rat race living. Get off that hamster wheel, Libra, and tune into your soul. The twelfth house rules hidden agendas, so you may see someone’s true (and unflattering) colors. On the upside, guardian angel types are all around you, too. Shield your field so that only supportive, high-vibe people can enter! Closure and forgiveness work could also be par for the course as you wrap up a long, 12-year life cycle in preparation for Jupiter’s entry into Libra—and the start of a NEW 12-year chapter—on September 9, 2016.

This month is especially charged because it has two game-changing eclipses (a Virgo solar eclipse on September 13 and an Aries total lunar eclipse on September 27). Eclipses come in and shake up the status quo, so don’t expect “business as usual” after this month is over! Mercury also turns retrograde (backward) from September 17-October 9, and Saturn settles into Sagittarius for a two-year run on September 17, too—mercifully ending a restrictive three-year visit to Scorpio, your work and money house (buh-bye, Saturn!) and moving into your communication sphere for a much gentler visit. Your ruling planet Venus ends a six-week retrograde on September 6, and Pluto also corrects course on September 22.

September 13 brings the Virgo solar (new moon) eclipse—the first Virgo installment of an eclipse series falling on the Virgo/Pisces axis between now and 2017. These eclipses have arrived to transform your approach to creativity, health, spirituality and organization, and to help you strike the perfect balance between fantasy and reality, order and chaos. Although most Libras have a Type A side, you also hate to be rushed, pressured and forced to follow someone else’s agenda. But if you need to have everything on your terms, this eclipse will pry your grip loose, pushing you to surrender control. You might make a change to your habits and lifestyle in the name of better health and overall wellbeing.

This Virgo eclipse could usher new creative outlets into your life, or bring an infusion of spiritual and imaginative energy. If you recently cut ties with a toxic or deceptive person, you may meet a kindred spirit or mentor, perhaps even a romantic soulmate. The universe is communicating on loudspeaker, Libra, so pay attention to signs you get near this eclipse—your intuition won’t steer you wrong. And if circumstances demand that you change gears quickly, fasten your seatbelt and go with it. Eclipses can bring surprises and call for swift action.

Money or work stress could start to ease up on September 17, when restrictive Saturn departs Scorpio, your financial second house, after a three-year on/off run. Saturn is the planet of maturity and discipline, and since October 2012, it’s been in Scorpio, teaching you how to budget, plan and build true security. You may have taken a pay cut, changed jobs (and possibly lost a position) or just felt like your nose was constantly to the grindstone. You’ve been paying your dues, and hopefully now see the fruits of your labor in the form of greater stability, a higher-ranking position or a job that feels like a good fit.

Now, Saturn moves into a lighter sextile (60-degree angle) to your Sun and settles into Sagittarius, ruler of your communication sector. Between now and December 19, 2017, you may get serious about marketing your message—writing, teaching, learning or using social media to spread your expertise. If you could use a little on-camera training or speak with better articulation, you might work with a coach to help tweak your presentation. You might take on a leadership role in your community or sprearhead a project that raises your public profile. Saturn made a brief foray into Sagittarius from December 23, 2014 until June 14, 2015, but then it slipped back into Scorpio and your money zone. If this summer brought a few stressful expenses or final work-related lessons, you can now relax—Saturn won’t be back to Scorpio until 2041.

Although Saturn may be improving your self-expression, there’s a counter-effect, as communication planet Mercury turns retrograde (backward) in Libra from September 17-October 9. Mercury retrograde can foil technology, snarl travel plans and cause misunderstandings to rage. Having the quicksilver planet going rogue in your own sign can be a special challenge, as you may feel like nobody “gets” a word you’re saying now. Use this time to go back to the drawing board to tweak your personal presentation and tighten your ideas. While it might seem like everything is delayed, this is actually a valuable time for editing and improving. Set your splashy launches for October 12 instead, when a Libra new moon will kick off your personal new year and Mercury will no longer be retrograde. It will be here before you know it.

Do feel free to quietly work away on a personal project in the meantime, especially once the Sun enters Libra for a month on September 23. Carve dedicated time for your own goals and interests. You’ll feel your energy reboot with this blast of solar power, and even dodging Mercury retrograde obstacles won’t bring you down. Just pace yourself, and before you sign on for anything, be sure to read the fine print. If the negotiations take longer, so be it.

Your closest relationships are in the spotlight on September 27, when a groundbreaking Aries total lunar (full moon) eclipse sweeps through your partnership house. This is the third annual Aries lunar eclipse in a three-part series (the last two were in October 2013 and October 2014), which have been radically revamping the way you approach companionship and all interpersonal affairs. This grand finale eclipse could firmly close one door or push you off the fence if you’ve been vacillating about a key partnership.

This eclipse is in your seventh house of committed relationships, so maybe it’s time to make things official…or even to call the whole thing off! Libra, we know how you like to weigh the pros and cons ad infinitum, but it’s time to make a decision one way or another. Perhaps you’ll dash down to City Hall or finally choose one person to be your true life partner instead of waffling endlessly. Not that you’ll have time to vacillate, because this lunar eclipse may force your hand—there’s no room to be wishy-washy when a decisive eclipse blows through town. Eclipses bring surprises, and lunar eclipses are especially intent upon removing anything outmoded from our lives. If a relationship or deal is “eclipsed” away unexpectedly, trust that the temporary chaos will soon give way to a much better set of options.
