Multicultural group plants tree for Mayor’s support

Multicultural tree planting ceremony

The Multicultural Friendship Association (MFA) has recently planted a commemorative tree to celebrate the continued support from Weston Town Council for the organisation. The group planted the tree in Weston’s Grove Park to commemorate the mayor becoming the patron in perpetuity of the MFA.

The MFA is a voluntary and charitable group which was created specifically to promote friendship between people of different race and cultures living in Weston. The organisation hosts several social events every month to give people the chance to meet, exchange their experiences of life in a new country, and learn about other traditions, cultures and beliefs.

The tree was planted and blessed before the group were served refreshments, provided by Sayd Ahmed at Pappadoms, at the Badger Centre in Wadham Street. Pictured is MFA member Iman H M Muktarahmad, chairman Triliria Newbury, and member Mosek Uddin alongside Cllr Roz Willis and mayor’s chaplain Keith Berry-Davies.
