Everything is getting better and better each day! Your life is on the upswing at last, Virgo—and you’ve weathered some stormy seas to get here. On August 11, lucky and expansive Jupiter entered Virgo for the first time since 2004, kicking off a 13-month cycle of reinvention and renewed energy—along with a fresh 12-year chapter of your life. The past year may not have been bad, but it was hazy and unfocused, with a lot of ideas bubbling under the surface, or personal projects marinating in the Virgo slow cooker. Now, it’s time for your debut. September is not only Jupiter’s first full month in Virgo, the Sun is also here until September 23 and (drumroll) September 13 will feature a groundbreaking Virgo solar eclipse. Like it or not, you’ve got the astrological "It" factor now, so get ready to #werk!
September is a busy month, with two game-changing eclipses (the Virgo solar eclipse on the 13th, and an Aries lunar eclipse on the 27th). Your ruling planet Mercury will also go retrograde (backward) in the second half of September, while Venus and Pluto correct course and end their reverse commutes. Structured Saturn will also change signs and settle into Sagittarius for the next two years, putting home and family in the spotlight. A lot of this activity happens in the second half of September, so celebrate your birthday season all month long—if the spirit moves you, a spontaneous soiree can happen anytime, anyplace!
Let’s get back to that Virgo solar (new moon) eclipse on September 13. Since this is the year’s only Virgo new moon, it also marks your personal new year—a time to make bold wishes on your own behalf. Eclipses sweep in and bring radical change to your life, and their effects are especially potent when they fall in your zodiac sign. This is the first solar eclipse in Virgo since September 2007, so page back to any life changes you made around that time—you may see some recurring themes. But either way, this is the year of YOU. Since this one coincides with expansive Jupiter in your sign (a rare bonus), your new beginnings get some extra rocket fuel. Your star is ascending between now and September 2106, Virgo, so own it!
This is also the first Virgo eclipse in a series on the Virgo/Pisces axis that began on March 20, 2015 and will run through 2017, touching down in the personal and relationship houses of your chart. The next couple years will bring major change to the way you balance “me” versus “we.” Have you sidelined solo endeavors to support someone else’s needs—a significant other’s or a business partner’s? The eclipses will restore balance, reforming your relationships so everyone gets a fair chance to shine. If you’ve been overly independent at the expense of partnership, these eclipses could bring down your walls, surprising you with a soulmate or preparing you to welcome a special plus-one. You’ll develop a strong sense of self AND evolve in your approach to companionship. Just don’t try to control the process. Eclipses are radical reformers, so the universe will deliver these changes in the way it sees fit—not according to your tightly-edited script!
Speaking of editing, on September 17, your ruling planet Mercury takes a nosedive into retrograde (backward) motion until October 9. It’s time to revise, review and revisit. Mercury retrograde urges us to pause and polish up everything before moving forward. It happens three or four times a year, functioning as a quarterly review period. Mercury governs technology, transportation and communication, so news of an impending retrograde can incite panic—after all, these areas CAN go a bit haywire for three weeks. Back up your data well in advance, close deals (or delay signing) and confirm any travel (or avoid it if possible during the retrograde). We understand that lives can’t stop—nor should they—so just be extra careful with your words, data and deeds. Read the fine print even more than you normally do. Mercury will reverse course in Libra, your second house of work and money, so watch for misunderstandings with coworkers, cancelled or forgotten meetings and projects held up in red tape. Since retrogrades favor the past, you might go back to an old client or employer, or hear from one with an opportunity. If you’re loaned or borrowed money, it’s a good time to collect.
Also on September 17, structured Saturn makes a big move into Sagittarius, your fourth house of home and family, staying until December 19, 2017. Saturn made a brief foray into Sag from December 23, 2014 until June 14, 2015, before dipping into Scorpio and your communication house for a last hurrah. Now, Saturn picks up steam from the first half of this year. Since Saturn will form a cramped square (90-degree angle) to your sign, your biggest area of growth could be your personal life—particularly your family, living situation or a relationship with a female relative. There could be some growing pains along with real maturity here. Perhaps you’ll buy or sell a home, welcome a child or care for an aging parent. You could move away from your loved ones for a while (Saturn rules separation) or maybe do the reverse and relocate to be closer to your clan. There could be hard work but also a deep sense of fulfillment from these endeavors.
The fourth house sits at the bottom of the zodiac wheel and represents foundations. Your emotional base may need some fortifying, and Saturn will make that painfully evident. But Saturn is “cruel to be kind,” and by exposing any cracks and fundamental flaws, it gives you the opportunity to repair them. Virgos are their own harshest critics, and you can no longer bypass the crucial work of self-love. Faking it won’t fly either. Working with a female coach, mentor or therapist (the fourth house rules women) could be an important step in your healing journey. Virgos born between August 23 and September 5 will feel Saturn’s presence the most in 2015, as it will form an exact square (90-degree angle) to your Sun sign at some point before the end of this year. Prepare yourself to get extra emotional support in case any dark feelings or heavy responsibilities arise. Hopefully, having optimistic Jupiter in your sign will combat some of that, too.
On September 23, the Sun enters Libra for a month, heating up your second house of work and finances. It’s time to roll up your sleeves and get productive—perhaps to start building out one of the big ideas sparked by the Virgo eclipse. Although Mercury is retrograde in this same zone until October 9, you can still do some behind-the-scenes planning, mapping out the steps of a project, researching and laying the groundwork.
The month closes off with an intense and emotional total lunar (full moon) eclipse in Aries, your eighth house of shared resources, intimacy and joint ventures. Lunar eclipses can bring turning points, sudden endings or manifestations—and this could push a business or personal relationship into rather official terrain. Are you in or are you out? This is the grand finale in a three-part series of Aries lunar eclipses (the last two occurred October 2013 and October 2014), so get ready. If you’ve been going back and forth about a key alliance, an investment or a major move, you can expect a final hit of clarity. The eclipse may even force your hand, as you could be pushed off the fence and into a decision. This eclipse could bring a real estate deal, a sexy soulmate (or bedmate!) or a lucrative financial offer. A proposal, a pregnancy or a possible parting of ways could also occur. You’ll certainly get an up-close view about which mergers—emotional and financial—belong in your life, and which ones are no longer a fit. While you might want to wait until Mercury goes direct next month before making things officially official, there shouldn’t be much grey area once this eclipse barges into town. Ready or not, your answers are here!
